GOLF COURSES

Castletown Golf Links – Castletown

This is a classic links course, entirely surrounded by the sea on all three sides with vistas as far as the eye can see from every hole. With a Par of 72 or 73 and a length of 5643 to 6800 yards depending on which of the 5 tee positions you use, it is a course steeped in history with evocative hole names such as Ruins, Hogs Back and Plateau. In the Bay Green Restaurant you will find superb local cuisine and an excellent wine list.


Douglas Golf Course

This is an undulating, inland parkland course designed by none other than Alister MacKenzie, architect of Augusta National. Look out for the par-three 17th, where the elevated tee is 70 feet above the green. It plays 5977 yards from the men’s tees with a Par of 71. The 18th finishes in front of the new Clubhouse, where a comprehensive menu will see you complete your visit to Douglas and leave you with happy memories.


Glen Truan Golf Club – Bride

Glen Truan is the newest course on the island, but this is links golf at its finest. The Glen Truan course follows the coastline of the northern tip of the isle, just next to Ramsey. On a clear day, Scotland is visible on the horizon. The 18 hole, heathland course plays Par 73 over 6651 yards provides a really stern challenge. Afterwards you can reward yourself and enjoy dining in the country Clubhouse. CLOSED FOR THE TIME BEING


King Edward Bay Golf Club – Douglas

Like Castleford, King Edward Bay is another course designed by Tom Morris from St Andrews and although relatively short at 5,221 yards, the par-67 course offers some of the best views on the isle, thanks to its elevated position just outside Douglas – the isle’s capital. The springy, mountain turf makes play fast and smooth and some of the holes are especially memorable, and there is an excellent Clubhouse and restaurant too.


Mount Murray Golf Club – Douglas

Situated just outside Douglas in the south of the Island, this Par 71 parkland course skilfully incorporates the natural features of the Manx countryside and provides an enjoyable round for all standards of golfer. Measuring 6356 yards off the Championship tees, the course is made up of six par 3’s, seven par 4’s and five par 5’s to ensure a variety of challenges throughout the course. As part of the 4* Comis Hotel, there are two excellent restaurants to choose from as well as a welcoming Clubhouse.


Peel Golf Club – Peel

Peel is on the west coast of the isle, so prepare to battle the elements on this fearsome links course. Oh, and there are also plenty of streams, banks, and gorse to contend with too. The course plays 5724 yards, Par 69 off Yellow tees and is a fairly easy walk with some stunning views. In the Clubhouse, the Congary restaurant offers excellent food and drink with a bar menu and specials board for light, after-round refreshment.


Port St Mary Golf Club – Port St Mary

The isle’s only nine-hole course, Port St Mary is another links course and is situated just next to Rowany on the isle’s southern tip, It was designed by 1920 Open Champion, George Duncan and provides a stern test for golfers at all levels. It enjoys beautiful sea views over Perwick Bay, Port St Mary and Bay Ny Carrickey and the fresh Manx-cuisine food at the Clubhouse also has a great reputation.


Ramsey Golf Club – Ramsey

Ramsey was established in 1891, with the current 18-hole course being designed by five-time Open Championship winner, James Braid. It is a 5934 yard parkland course tucked away in the centre of the northern most town of the Island with a Par of 70, but don’t let that fool you, it’s not easy to tame. The well appointed Clubhouse sits astride the par three closing hole and offers simple, well earned refreshments after a challenging round.


Rowany Golf Club – Port Erin

Situated in Port Erin on the south western tip of the island, it was established in 1895. The 18-hole heathland, Par 70 course is 5,722 yard long, and offers a test for all golfers. The course, known for its stunning views, with the 18th providing one of the most spectacular views anywhere in golf, From the hill crest fairway, Port Erin Bay and the Irish Sea simply open up before you. The Clubhouse has a warm and welcoming atmosphere as is the perfect place to round off the day.

Best Western Palace Hotel & Casino – Douglas

Situated on the delightful Victorian promenade facing the beach, this 4* hotel has 135 well appointed rooms, some offering a sea view, a superb indoor swimming pool, gym, a choice of bars, two restaurants, one being a proper Chinese. It even has its own Casino with all a fantastic range of gaming tables. It is the perfect place to enjoy your stay in comfort and style.


The Claremont – Douglas

Situated in a recently renovated large town house on the central promenade of Douglas Bay, the Claremont Hotel is the highest rated hotel on the Isle of Man. Empress Hotel – Douglas

This recently refurbished hotel makes a perfect retreat in a beautiful setting overlooking the seaside. There is a range of well equipped, comfortable bedrooms over 4 floors with a luxurious Penthouse on the top floor. Facilities include the Brasserie & two function suites for larger gatherings and a pleasant garden / patio for relaxing after a day’s activity.


Halvard Hotel – Douglas

This upscale hotel opened recently in 2018 and is located on the Douglas Bay sea front with spectacular views over the Irish Sea and Douglas Bay. It offers superbly decorated and appointed rooms and suites, many with sea views, a restaurant serving sumptuous food and a gym with jacuzzi where you can relax after a day’s exertions.


Regency Hotel – Douglas

This polished hotel, set on a promenade along Douglas Bay has built an enviable reputation for quality and service with 38 en suite rooms all comfortably furnished and well equipped including the Presidential Suite with prime examples of Kenedy furniture. There’s a bar and the oak-paneled restaurant with panoramic sea views serves gourmet international cuisine.


Welbeck Hotel – Douglas

Set in a Victorian town house, this cosy hotel is a 3-minute walk from the promenade along Douglas Bay. The 25 warmly decorated en suite rooms are well appointed and some have partial bay views. The Conservatory restaurant offers both traditional and contemporary cuisine, using the best local produce.

The Shore Inn– Port St Mary

Located at the southern tip of the Island on Garnsey Bay, this delightful Guest House housed in a pub has two simple but comfortable ensuite double rooms on the second floor. The real highlight is the bar which has embraced its seaside location featuring plenty of natural wood décor and furnishings. The restaurant serves excellent local seafood and steaks and breakfast is served in your room!


The Devonian – Douglas

Situated in the heart of Douglas, The Devonian is a grand Victorian town house combining 20 cosy and well equipped ensuite rooms with beautifully appointed interiors. There is an extensive breakfast menu, with several vegetarian/vegan options, which is served in the stunning Breakfast Room for the perfect start to any day.


Englewood Lodge – Douglas

Situated in a beautiful residential area, just outside the hustle and bustle of Douglas’ main promenade it enjoys an elevated position on Onchan Head and benefits from greats view overlooking Douglas bay which can be enjoyed from the guest lounge (with pool table) the conservatory and sun terrace. There is free parking right on the driveway.


Inglewood – Douglas

This family-run Guest House is centrally located and nestled in the Queens Promenade with the ocean right on the doorstep. The 16 ensuite rooms have been updated with modern contemporary rooms and facilities are beautifully appointed accommodation, excellent food, and a fantastic Whiskey selection. Breakfasts are healthy and satisfying with vegetarian options available.


Rowany Cottier – Port Erin

This substantial five bedroom guest house stands in its own spacious grounds overlooking Port Erin Bay. It provides high quality and comfort that is reflected in each of the 5 double/twin bedrooms The comfortable and elegant guests’ lounge looks out to the Calf of Man and breakfast is served in the main dining room where the famous Manx Kipper is always on the menu
